Hoezo in KINO

The often overlooked William Friedkin directed serial killer flick Cruising starring Al Pacino is a late 70’s gem about a real-life string of murders targeting the S&M / Bondage gay community in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The film was controversial during the shoot as the community was suspicious of how the film would depict the secretive activities in the leather bars. Places like ‘The Mine Shaft’ initially opened their doors for the production but later thought better of it. In our book, Cruising is also the provider of the most macabre piece of movie trivia that we know, as Friedkin seemed to have cast a lab technician in The Exorcist (where Regan gets X-Rays) that was later convicted of one of the murders depicted in this film.
