The Red Shoes is a real filmmaker’s favourite. Scorsese sings its praises whenever he can and based his fight choreography in Raging Bull on the dance sequences. Hollywood legend Gene Kelly was so enthralled with it, he convinced MGM to make An American in Paris (an ode to this film) by showing the execs the feature. The film obviously takes much of its theatricality from the stage but uses editing and camera trickery to add a layer of the fantastical only cinema can provide. Watching The Red Shoes is a visceral experience and we’re proud to present this masterpiece on our biggest screen and on beautiful 35mm. Do not miss out as in our humble opinion this film belongs amongst Lawrence of Arabia and 2001:A Space Odyssey as cinematic art that should be experienced in the setting only a movie theater can provide. English language without subtitles.
