Ordinary People (1980)

Hoezo in KINO

Sadly Donald Sutherland passed on June 20th. A titan of cinema with over 200 acting credits in an enormous variety of roles. A character actor (read: not a conventional Hollywood star) with a subtle style that made the craft look natural, even easy at times. Sutherland could convey the unfathomable loss of a grieving father in Don’t Look Now with the same humanistic qualities as he did a shadowy informant of the US government in JFK, instantly commanding your utmost attention. To honour his departure from this physical realm we screen Robert Redford’s moving 1980 family drama Ordinary People on July 13th. A fine showcase of Sutherlands skills as a performer and a great film to revisit as well. The film is presented in English without subtitles.
