Breaking The Waves (1996)

Hoezo in KINO

This film was largely shot according to the rules of the ‘Dogma 95′ movement, which as stated by Lars von Trier was heavily influenced by the modus operandi of Müller. To emphasize the documentary and realistic feeling Müller used digital cameras and made handheld shots, using no artificial lighting. To make it even more challenging the cameraman didn’t know what was about to happen in every scene. In the end it also led to commotion amongst other DoP’s, who didn’t agree with the bleak colors, out of focus shots and jerky camera movements.
