No film genre was ever the same after Stanley Kubrick dove into them – something one surely can say about the historical drama-setting in which he chronicles 18th century trickster Barry Lyndon. Aristocracy is at its most pitiless, in a depraved society both voluptuous and empty. As all Kubrick-connaisseurs know: the only way to see the majestic lighting and set pieces of Barry Lyndon is on a 35mm print – which we have been lucky enough to find for this screening.
