Hoezo in KINO

In a surreal, deserted world, a girl walks around with a large egg. That doesn’t seem like a premise on which to base an entire animated feature film, but in Mamoru Oshii’s Angel’s Egg, it succeeds very convincingly. Angel’s Egg is an anime like no other. With virtually no dialogue, the film takes the viewer into a world characterized by its symbolism. Those who know Mamoru Oshii mainly from the very successful and violent film Ghost in the Shell, will see his affinity with philosophical themes in the passion project Angel’s Egg. As a unique anime film, Angel’s Egg proves the power of the medium to push its boundaries and captivate the audience on a deep and intellectual level. Japanese language with English subtitles.

All films will be introduced by Noa Mac Donald. She is a 2D animator and mixed media artist based in Rotterdam and has worked as a reviewer for the Kaboom Animation Festival for the last three years and is a connoisseur of obscure animation.
