KINOsofie

What does technology do to us and to society? What do films like Princess Mononoke (1997), Solaris (2002), Iron Man (2008), Paterson (2016) and Past Lives (2023) tell us about this? We present, in collaboration with independent think-tank Socires, a film series called KINOsofie. Leading thinkers will discuss the impact of technology on our lives through the lens of a well-known film. An invitation to watch, reflect and converse about the future of our society.

The reason for this series of films is the publication of the book ‘Denken over Film’ (Thinking about Film) by Kees Buitendijk and Ward Huetink. The book is produced by Socires and will be published in the spring of 2025 at the publishing house ‘De Nieuwe Wereld’. It includes essays by Ad Verbrugge, Doortje Smithuijsen, Marli Huijer, Kees Buitendijk, Ellen Klaver, Cees Zweistra, Ger Groot, Miriam Rasch, Ward Huetink, Marjan Donner and Fleur Jongepier.
