Mainly known as the movie in which a ponytailed Sean Connery continuously wears a little concealing red mankini, this cult classic by John Boorman actually packs a powerful metaphorical punch on how the ‘haves’ use technology to suppress the ‘have-nots’ – themselves immortal and luxuriating in orgies. Not sure whether the latter is the case for Zuckerberg, Pitchai, or Altman, but it makes for fantastic retro-future cinema better experienced than understood. English language without subtitles.

Storyline

In the distant future, the Earth is divided into two factions: the barbarians and those with mental powers who rule over the barbarians. Zed is a barbarian who is used by those with mental powers to control the barbarians. At a certain point, Zed realizes that he is being exploited and he seeks revenge.
