Special Classic Robby Müller
Robby Müller: Director of Photography

To Live and Die in L.A. (1985)

Hoezo in KINO

William Friedkin (who recently passed away) and Robby Müller understood each other when it came to cinema language. Friedkin would go on to state that he learnt everything about composition from Müller and eventually even copied his style. In this film the city of Los Angeles is portrayed in a very bleak manner, which had not been done up until then. A lot of the scenes are shot during magic hour, which means you only have a few minutes to film. Fortunately, Friedkin was up for this costly experiment.
