Cult Status: Road House (1989) – a 35mm presentation

Hoezo in KINO

“I want you to be nice until it’s time to not be nice.” With the streaming release of a new iteration of Road House, we believe it’s high time to return to ‘The Double Deuce’ and give the awesome 1989 original the ‘Cult Status’ treatment, complete with a Patrick Swayze’s career deep dive as a pre-show. The main feature will be presented in glorious 35mm, so all the lathered up bare-chested Tai Chi, bone breaking bar brawls and unprovoked monster truck destruction can be experienced as intended. As the amazing tagline states: “The Dancing’s over. It’s time to get dirty.” Indeed. English language without subtitles.

Storyline

The Double Deuce is the meanest, loudest and rowdiest bar south of the Mason-Dixon Line, and Dalton has been hired to clean it up. He might not look like much, but the Ph.D.-educated bouncer proves he’s more than capable – busting the heads of troublemakers and turning the roadhouse into a jumping hot-spot. But Dalton’s romance with the gorgeous Dr. Clay puts him on the bad side of cutthroat local big shot Brad Wesley.
