On 13 June we’re inviting Canuto’s Kitchen for a takeover! They will provide Brazilian food & caipirinhas in our restaurant between 17:30-21:00. Think of coxinhas, feijoada, moqueca and bolinhas de bacalhau. Jan van Mechelen will be playing Brazilian vinyl during dinner. And at 21:15 we’re screening the classic Cidade de Deus (2002). Storyline

In 2003 Cidade de Deus (City of God) was screened at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. An overwhelming movie about life in one of the infamous suburbs of Rio de Janeiro, based on a book by Paulo Lins. Eventually, this film won no less than 4 Oscars in 2004, namely; best director, best editing, best edited screenplay and best cinematography. In honor of its release 20 years ago, we will screen this film in KINO on the 13th of June.

Buscapé was raised in a very violent environment. Despite the feeling that all odds were against him, he finds out that life can be seen with other eyes…
