Hoezo in KINO

A young Kyle Maclachlan slowly gets drawn into a dark underworld, on the trail of a mysterious nightclub singer called Dorothy, played by a magical Isabella Rosselini. Blue Velvet explores the contrast between purity and depravity in a sharp satire of the suburban American Dream. The film deeply divided the critics at its release in 1986 but by now is almost universally deemed a masterpiece.

Blue Velvet is right up the alley of Dr. Tim de Mey, who is assistant professor of Theoretical Philosophy at Erasmus University in Rotterdam and guest lecturer in philosophy of science at the University of Ghent.
De Mey specializes in epistemology, metaphysics, philosophy of cognition, philosophy of consciousness and philosophy of science. In his research he focuses on the role of imagination and creativity in knowledge acquisition in science. Introduction in English, film on 35mm with Dutch subtitles.
