Deze avonturenfilm sprong handig in het gapende Indiana-Jones-vormige gat wat na de iconische trilogie meer dan tien jaar niet werd gevuld en was niet bang om op de humor en actie set-pieces flink op te vijzelen. The Mummy heeft naast Fraser een uiterst charmante cast met o.a. Rachel Weisz, John Hannah en Arnold Vosloo en vangt met haar opgewekte toon de Zeitgeist van de late jaren ’90: zorgeloos en uiterst vermakelijk.
