We’re happy to welcome back cinematic royalty to KINO for another wonderful live film score. Jozef van Wissem, composer of the award-winning soundtrack to Jim Jarmusch’s Only Lovers Left Alive, returns to KINO on October 15th to perform live to Robert Wiene’s silent horror classic Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari (1920). Considered one of the first horror films and one of the first German Expressionist films, Caligari is a beautiful and timelessly powerful viewing experience. Jozef van Wissem is a minimalist avant-folk artist and a worldwide go-to medieval lute player. To create a hypnotic and unearthly live soundtrack for this classic horror film, he will also use electronics and guitar. An unmissable event, exclusively at KINO.

This essential film was a cinematic experience in forming our perception of film as an art from and in 2019 we had the opportunity as a cinema to contribute in a small way to its monumental legacy.
In Mark Rosenblatts toneelstuk speelt John Lithgow een fantastische Roald Dahl, als een 1,95 meter groot probleem: briljant, gruwelijk charmant – en diepgeworteld antisemitisch.
