Cult Status | Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In

‘Cult Status’ is back! Our boutique label for the weird and wonderful returns with a brand spanking new offering of Hong Kong action cinema that got us fistpumpingly excited during the midnight screening at Cannes, last year. The film is set in the infamous labyrinthine slum of Kowloon City, a now demolished structure that housed over 30.000 residents in what was essentially a city block. Walled In compiles contemporary action direction by Soi Cheang with old school genre legends like Sammo Hung, going back to the “if he dies, he dies” days of stunt work that put Hong Kong on the map with action enthusiasts the world over. The result is a slick but hard hitting film with fantastic set pieces bordering on the fantastical, but grounded enough to keep the stakes as high as the onlooker’s blood pressure. The film will be screened in Cantonese / Mandarin with English subtitles and a custom KINO style pre-show.
