A collection of animated films, trailers, and work in progress from WdKA graduates of various bachelor programmes. Please note: there are no Q&A’s following the animation blocks.

Storyline

  • Wanderers by Ashlin Winckler. Short film. When an isolated celestial being meets a shooting star in the vast emptiness of space, they must choose whether to put their faith in the friendly stranger or continue to rely on the loneliness that haunts them.
  • Overflown by Ruben Hessels. Short film. Gerald, a plumber with a leaking faucet at home, learns to accept the loss of his mother after an intense dream that reveals the depth of his emotions. Advisory age: 12+.
  • Oma Gaat op Kamers by Bente Boekhoff. Short film. Separated by distance and life events, a granddaughter visits her grandmother, hoping to build a new connection, not based on who they were, but on who they’ve become.
  • Sir. Geon by Davida Hoddenbagh. Film trailer. A lonely surgeon’s obsessive search for his soul leads him to dig into his own body, revealing the fragility of human existence. Advisory age: 12+.
  • Ever Enough by Noah Sin Ramos Pinto Martins Quelhas. Film trailer. A young man is raised under the constant pressure of fulfilling expectations, ending up on a breaking point. Trigger warnings: parental abuse / neglect. Advisory age: 6+.
  • “Sun” the weight of Memory by Ahlam khawam. Short film. The story follows a teenage girl on a surreal emotional journey as she seeks freedom within the bounds of social and parental restrictions. When she finally rebels, she faces a devastating betrayal by her father—an event that plunges her into a symbolic world where water echoes the weight of her emotions. Trigger warnings: parental abuse & violence. Advisory age: 12+.
  • A Place Too Small for Longing by Janka Sára Balázs & Diletta Rizzo. The harmony of a childhood memory is disrupted. In a parallel world, an ecosystem is dying. This short film explores the adult experience of revisiting a childhood memory where the death of a moth disrupts safety.  The visuals explore the intertwining of the adult self with childhood memories that shape her inner ecosystem.
  • Of Women, Shadows and Lullabies by Daria-Maria Popescu. Short film. A young girl is hunted by a mysterious creature of the woods. When her escape becomes impossible, she must face the truth the creature holds. Trigger warnings: film contains nudity, sexual content, blood. Advisory age: 16+.
  • Snippets by Robin Grebenisan & Yara ter Veer. Short film. Two young adults are confronted by compulsory heterosexuality and the gender binary, feeling pressured into conforming. Through self-reflection and mutual support, they find their own paths and break free from the expectations that were imposed on them. Together they find  the courage to be themselves in a world that doesn’t seem ready for them. Advisory age: 6+
  • How to Burn the Tablecloth by Teo Miron. Short film. A peasant girl gets her basket of wheat stolen by a mischievous devil, ensuing a chase that will lead her on a journey of discovery and acceptance. Trigger warnings: slight body horror. Advisory age: 14+.
  • A Chime in the Dark by Sylvester Le. Short film. A grieving cat-wizard tries to resurrect a dying forest using magic, only to realize that true restoration requires trust and connection, not just power.
