Expect works that don’t always follow conventional rules, but instead open up new perspectives on what audiovisual practice can be and do.

Storyline

  • Soft Limits by Kjettil Gerritsen. Short film. Through different voices, Soft Limits explores how freedom is personally experienced, translating intimate stories into poetic visual worlds. Contains photosensitive content (flashing lights).
  • Casa Amarela by Marina dos Anjos Hardy. Short film. Celina is a young immigrant woman who returns home to heal from illness under the care of her family, where together they navigate how distance changed their connections. 
  • Carry-On by Skaistė Šileikaitė. Short film. While waiting at an airport gate to leave her hometown, a traveler drifts through a landscape of memories, facing the emotional baggage she carries. As she does, her former self slowly dies, making way for a new version of her to emerge. 
  • Protozoa by Zef Oosterhof. Short film. Protozoa, a lonely fluke of nature, faces Earth’s evolutionary winner, the mussels, to stop their evil plot of devolving all other life on Earth into complete extinction. Trigger warning: Contains photosensitive content (flashing colours and light effects).
  • Miserere by Jarmo Willering. Short film. An exploration of humanity’s never ending attraction to self-destruction and the end of the world. Trigger warning: Contains graphic violence or injury detail. Photosensitive content (flashing lights). Advisory age: 14+
  • The Endless Voyage by Suzanne Lub & Rada Skumova. Short film. A luxury ark flees a collapsing world, but the greed onboard proves heavier than the flood outside  Advisory age: 9+
