WdKA Animation Shorts: Now or Never

The new generation of animators is looking outwards, and letting us know what they’ve seen. This program is all about paying attention, and maybe finding a better way. Including Q&A’s with the graduation students moderated by Riccardo Canciello.

Storyline

  • The Endless Voyage by Suzanne Lub & Rada Skumova. Short film. A luxury ark flees a collapsing world, but the greed onboard proves heavier than the flood outside  Advisory age: 9+
  • Echoes of Comfort by Ela Jarosz. Short film. Comfort comes at cost – and it’s finally visible. A home where objects remember what we forget. The things we love, tell a darker story. Their voices begin to emerge and they refuse to be silenced. Advisory age: 12+
  • Love, Eileen by Michelle Möller & Leda Čačić. Short film. An alien species orders humanity’s execution. Eileen, an alien girl, was tasked with observing humans to pass the final judgement. After years of companionship, she finds herself torn between loyalty to her species and the blossoming love for the very people she was meant to judge. Advisory age: 12+
  • Allospos (Αλλωσπως) by Venetia Theodosiou. Short film. When her grandfather falls ill and the well dries up, young Sofia must climb the mountains for water, facing her fears and finding her own way to restore life to her family. 
  • Legacy: The Peregrinate (Pilot) by Reanne Frances Ticzon. Short film. When faced with the reality of Buko wanting to leave the coastal village of Maalon to find his “true home”, Daluyongin must confront her fear of losing him and the uncertain future of their bond. Advisory age: 12+
  • The Forgotten World by Alexia Ene. Short film. How can remembering forgotten mythological truth raise awareness about earth destruction? Trigger warning: Contains graphic injury detail and needles. Photosensitive content (flashing lights). Advisory age: 18+
