You went there, did the thing, and came back. All that’s left to do is accepting that you’ve changed. And why wouldn’t you? This programme consists of short animated films, trailers and work in progress made by Animation Graduates of Willem de Kooning Academy, followed by Q&A’s about the making process.

Storyline

  • Meet me in the Garden by Alice Gaponova. Film trailer. Returning to her abandoned home, a girl encounters a mysterious forest creature. She follows the shape-shifting entity into the wilderness, determined to reveal its true identity. Advisory age: 12+.
  • Good Enough by Mandie van Yperen. Short film. When her room threatens to overflow from a leaky roof, Rainn must learn to embrace and live with the water she is trying so hard to ignore.
  • How to Burn the Tablecloth by Teo Miron. Short film. A peasant girl gets her basket of wheat stolen by a mischievous devil, ensuing a chase that will lead her on a journey of discovery and acceptance. Trigger warnings: slight body horror. Advisory age: 14+.
  • Overcast by Job Jovanović. Film trailer. When a mysterious cloud appears above his home, and old man is confronted with his past – and future.
  • Overflown by Ruben Hessels. Short film. Gerald, a plumber with a leaking faucet at home, learns to accept the loss of his mother after an intense dream that reveals the depth of his emotions. Advisory age: 12+.
  • Rat Poison by Mina Kaya. Film trailer. Rat Poison is a short movie inspired by personal life events. It’s about being stuck after traumatic events, and the events that followed them but over time, healing. Trigger warnings: Child on Child Sexual Abuse, Self-Harm, Disordered Eating. Advisory age: 16+.
  • A Chime in the Dark by Sylvester Le. Short film. A grieving cat-wizard tries to resurrect a dying forest using magic, only to realize that true restoration requires trust and connection, not just power.
