Home is… exactly where these shorts are taking us. A collection of animations with a strong sense of place, for good or for bad. This programme consists of short animated films, trailers and work in progress made by Animation Graduates of Willem de Kooning Academy, followed by Q&A’s about the making process.

Storyline

  • Homeynessless by Neala Yakub. A mixed media documentary talking about the complex emotions home brings for international people.
  • Not So Public Spaces by Rares Pepple Andronic. Short film. A group of misfits go on by their day, when an angry capitalist joins the pictures. He gets angry and destroys the subculture spaces out characters live in. Advisory age: 9+.
  • Little October by Matas Pakutinskas. Short film. Two young pioneers of communism are honored with a promotion to serve their great nation on the fabled ‘Red Wall’—but the price of loyalty comes with a sacrifice. Trigger warning: contains body horror elements. Advisory age: 12+
  • Rotterdam Quest: The Realm of The Seven Winds by Mila Paparizova. Game trailer. A mobile fantasy AR exploration game of Rotterdam aiming to help people on the journey of belonging. Advisory age: 16+.
  • Hanging There by Melissa Carvalho Lettieri. A hand-drawn, non-narrative short film that transforms personal memories and experiences into surreal animation. Inviting the viewer into an intimate space where trauma, humor, and resilience coexist. Advisory age: 14+.
