“Blink your eyes, motherfucker, and you die in the dark!” Martin Scorsese himself argued that Vice Squad should have been nominated for Best Film at the Oscars, back in 1982. We’re not about to disagree with the man, but time has not been kind to this long forgotten exploitation flick that is so unbelievably cruel, crazy and laugh out loud funny, we’ve added it as a special one-time-only screening to our ‘Underbelly‘ series, to provide it with some much needed context before viewing. The recently deceased Wings Hauser plays a pimp named ‘Ramrod’ (which should tell you enough) who will go to any length to remain out of custody and in business. Hauser is truly diabolical with a Howdy Doody costume and a coathanger as a weapon of choice. He even provided the vocals for the title song “Neon Slime” that immediately sets the mood for one of the craziest movies you’ve never seen. Includes a pre-show! English language without subtitles.
