“Betsy, sometimes… you gotta be careful about people. Sometimes things don’t look the way they are.” With our Underbelly series we do not flinch to dip our toes into the B-movie pond and Trackdown is most certainly bobbing around in there. With a plot that would define exploitation cinema from this – and the next decade, a Montana cattle rancher (played by James ’the son of Robert’ Mitchum) drives his truck to the California coast in search of his young sister and goes full ‘one man army’ on the hoodlums that did her wrong. Not unlike the protagonists in Death Wish and Underbelly compatriot Hardcore, where the latter shares the stark juxtaposition of rural innocence against big city decay. LA never looked more dangerous in this brutal revenge flick that is most certainly worth your time. English language without subtitles.

Storyline

When his sister Betsy packs up and leaves the family’s Montana cattle ranch to find fame and fortune in Hollywood, her brother Jim decides to follow after her to make sure she doesn’t get into trouble. He’s a little too late, however, since almost as soon as she gets off the bus, Betsy has her belongings stolen, then gets kidnapped, gang-raped, and is sold to a pimp to work for him as a prostitute. It is now up to Jim, with help from social worker Lynn, to rescue his sister and set things right
