The Wild Pear Tree (2018)

Hoezo in KINO

To contribute to the relief effort for earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria, we are organizing two screening events this month to raise funds. Please join us – all ticket revenues will go to organizations on the ground: a Queer relief fund and Mor Dayanisma. On February 23rd we’ll show a preview of the upcoming Turkish village noir thriller Burning Days, and February 28th one of our recent Cannes favorites returns to the cinema: Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s The Wild Pear Tree (2018).
On Tuesday February 28, Eathouse will do a kitchen takeover and serve delicious warm dishes from 17:30 to raise more money.

Storyline

Sinan (Aydin Doğu Demirkol), an aspiring writer, returns home after university hoping to scrape together enough money to publish his first novel. He wanders the town encountering old flames and obstinate gatekeepers and finds his youthful ambition increasingly at odds with the deferred dreams of his gambling-addict father (Murat Cemcir). As his own fantasies mingle with reality, Sinan grapples with the people and the place that have made him who he is.
