The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)

Hoezo in KINO

While standing in line at the hardware store, director Tobe Hooper was daydreaming how he could cut through the line of people in front of him when his eye fell on a chainsaw… With €300K scraped together and a remote house as the film set, the young director set out to change Hollywood history as the first ‘slasher’ was born, now fifty years ago. In 83 minutes the ‘masked maniac’ genre took shape as a group of young people on a road trip take a wrong turn and encounter a deranged family living in the Texas sticks. Despite its R-rating and many theaters flat out refusing to screen the gory flick, TTCSM became a monster hit and still holds up as one of the most brutal cinematic experiences. Please enjoy. English language (and much screaming) without subtitles.
