KINO presents a one-time-only event exploring the life and work of the genius from California. From his tenure as the creative force behind The Beach Boys to his deeply personal and underrated work as a solo artist, Wilson’s music has been relevant and revered for more than six decades. Musicians Yorick van Norden (vocals, guitar), Anne Soldaat (vocals, guitar), Henk Hulzebosch (piano) and host Joris van Laarhoven (De Snijtafel) kick off the evening with live performances, clips, recordings and on-stage interviews, exploring some of the rich heritage of Wilson’s life and music. After that, we will screen the new documentary Brian Wilson: Long Promised Road.

Brian Wilson: Long Promised Road (2021): This new documentary explores the rich and often troubled life of musical genius Brain Wilson. With many-a-famous talking heads – ranging from Elton John to Bruce Springsteen – and a candid Wilson embarking on a road trip to significant locations from the past to chronicle his life and work that shaped so many artists, fans and the way the world envisions California as an almost mythic destination. Long Promised Road offers for the veteran Beach Boys connoisseur as well as newcomers that worship at the temple of Wilson.
