Hoezo in KINO

What does technology do to us—and to society? What can films like Princess Mononoke, Solaris, Iron Man, Paterson, and Past Lives tell us about it? In collaboration with independent think-tank Socires,we present KINOsofie: a film series exploring the impact of technology through cinema. Each screening will be introduced by a leading thinker, inviting you to watch, reflect, and discuss the future of our society.
Attention is our most important asset, which we easily squander. Temptations are omni-present. We spent hours on phones and social media, rewarded by continuous dopamine shots. Meanwhile, life passes by. How do we regain a more conscious life? Miriam Rasch is a philosopher, writer and researcher at the Willem de Kooning Academy. She won the Socrates Cup in 2021 for her book ‘Frictie: Ethiek in Tijden van Dataïsme’ (Friction: Ethics in Times of Dataism). In 2024, her book ‘Luisteroefeningen. Over Aandacht en Ontvankelijkheid’ (Practices of Listening: On Attention and Receptibility) was published.
