Matt and Jay are still chasing the same impossible dream they’ve pursued for seventeen years: booking a show at Toronto’s Rivoli bar, despite never writing a single song. After their latest overcomplicated scheme goes haywire, they’re hurled back to 2008, unleashing chaos across time while remaining blissfully unaware of the destruction they’re causing.

With Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie, writer/director Matt Johnson gives us a gloriously unhinged time-travel comedy that pushes mockumentary madness to its breaking point. The film’s anarchic energy blazes through copyright-defying pop culture chaos, inspired visual gags and genuinely surreal set pieces. Audaciously absurd, brilliantly crafted and surprisingly heartfelt – a meta-comedy epic that transforms years of creative obsession into pure cinematic joy.
