Hoezo in KINO

Kaboom Anime and KINO immediately fell in love with this beautiful anime that packs a mighty punch for its modest running time. Look Back investigates what it takes to become a proper (manga) artist and if talent and dedication suffice when colliding with the real world. The film masterfully explores these themes through the friendship of the outgoing Fujino and the shy Kyomoto, two girls that collaborate at first but struggle to maintain their unity growing as artists and individuals. The film is a love letter to the art form (the film is based on the 2021 manga of the same name) and utilizes several manga genres to bring the different drawing styles of the protagonists to life in a beautiful portrait of passion, creativity and friendship that will certainly rank amongst this year’s very best.
