This survival story must have been a blueprint for Iñárritu’s The Revenant – in style and execution – but in our book this classic is so much more relatable and, more importantly, rewatchable. Francis Ford Coppola is also a fan and in 1995 he used his (then still intact) wealth and influence to unearth this forgotten film.
