In collaboration with independent think-tank Socires,we present KINOsofie: a film series exploring the impact of technology through cinema. Each screening will be introduced by a leading thinker, inviting you to watch, reflect, and discuss the future of our society.
Heroes are the iconic figures that embody the central values of a culture in stories. The hero figures of our time are Hollywood superheroes. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) started in 2008 with the release of ‘Iron Man’ and experienced enormous success. What do we see when we look closer at the Marvel heroes? What values do they depict? Ward Huetink is a philosopher and researcher at Socires. He coordinates several programs on social cohesion and new social movements. In 2024 his book ‘Zin in de Samenleving’ (Making sense of Society) (with Lia Hol and Ellen Klaver) was published.
