Hoezo in KINO

Director Mike Judge painted a bleak, if hilarious picture, of the future with Idiocracy, a film that asks what would happen if only the dumbest amongst us would procreate for 500 years. Little did he know that it took the good ol’ US of A a mere 20 years to speed-run his predictions with such devastatingly depressing accuracy. The film at the time was buried by 20th Century Fox but found a following on home entertainment and online meme culture and we say it’s high time we give this masterful comedy an anniversary re-release in a time when we have UFC on the White House lawn, Brawndo colored water in the reflection pool and a majority of American adults not topping a 6th grade reading level. And if you doubt the prophecy that is Idiocracy, realise the wardrobe department found a little known company called Crocs and used their plastic clogs for prison shoes because they look so idiotic and no one in their right mind would ever wear them. What a time to be alive. English language without subtitles.

Storyline

To test its top-secret Human Hibernation Project, the Pentagon picks the most average European-Americans it can find – an Army private and a prostitute – and sends them to the year 2505 after a series of freak events. But when they arrive, they find a civilization so dumbed-down that they’re the smartest people around.
