Hoezo in KINO

After a short summer break our monthly evening of the wonderfully weird is back! This time we’ll screen the little known but influential 1969 counterculture classic Putney Swope by Robert Downey Sr. This bitingly satirical New York set comedy is a whirlwind of social-political commentary situated in the world of corporate advertisement that not so much tackles, but bludgeons hot-button subjects as race, greed and rampant consumerism. The X-rated film sports an iconic and provocative (for the time at least) film poster that caught the eye of Rotterdam based Dutch graphic – and film poster designer, Sander Brouwer, who will provide an artist talk before the screening of the film. Brouwer will discuss the history of the artform, the intricacies of the industry, his favourite posters and some of his own work, both domestic and international. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to watch this rarely seen cult classic and to experience the unique insights of Brouwer’s artist talk. English language without subtitles.
