Aliens (1986): a 35mm presentation

Hoezo in KINO

James Cameron proved with The Terminator that he mastered the language of action cinema and when the opportunity arose to direct the sequel to Ridley Scott’s revolutionary and wildly successful Alien, he didn’t hesitate. Cameron’s pitch to the studio brass was simple: he wrote “ALIEN” on the whiteboard, put an “S” after it and then crossed it vertically to make it a $ sign. They concurred. The expansion – or rather escalation – of the premise of a single Xenomorph stalking a crew of citizens into all out war between hundreds of acid-blooded (extra)terrestrials versus battle hardened Space Marines, resulted in one of the best sequels ever produced. Cameron’s love for technical hardware, VFX and his knack for tension building makes this a masterclass of genre filmmaking and a complete blast from start to finish. The print of the theatrical cut is provided by Eye Filmmuseum. English language with Dutch subtitles.
