“Hello, Keneely. You know what, Keneely? I gotta message for you, from my friend. He says: Shazam! That’s all; Shazam. Can you dig it?” Journeyman director Peter Hyams’ (Running Scared, Outland, Timecop) first feature for the big screen is a rowdy and wildly entertaining cop movie with Elliott Gould and Edward Blake as vice-squad officers with a blatant disregard for SOP giving chase to a mob boss while leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. This criminally underseen police thriller embodied the newly regained sense of realism of the 70’s and its characters seem to fully embrace this environment as they shoot and smartmouth their way through it. We’re very excited for this one and to screen it on 35mm is truly like a drug-induced fever dream come true. English language without subtitles.
