Czechoslovak New Wave:

Black Peter (1964)

Hoezo in KINO

Our first film of three from break-out director Milos Forman (better known for his Hollywood features later on like One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Amadeus) is Black Peter, a coming of age film that incorporates Forman’s earlier experience in documentary with cinemá vérité and wry comedy. Shot with non-professional actors and improvised dialogue, the film has a loose but charming character that weaves its societal displeasures with Peter’s recalcitrant attitude towards his monitoring work duties and overbearing father. Czech language with English subtitles
