Storyline

Belle is the visually stunning new film from Japanese animation director Mamoru Hosoda (Mirai, The Girl Who Leaps Through, Wolf Children). In real life, Suzu is an insecure teenager who lives in a small town with her father. But when she goes online in the virtual world of ‘U’, she becomes Belle, a successful singer with billions of followers. Because no one knows that the shy Suzu is the true face behind the pop idol, she becomes more and more entangled in this double life. Through her encounter with the Beast, a mysterious being within ‘U’, her online and offline lives increasingly converge. Suzu goes in search of the Beast and together they discover what it means to be yourself.
