“I know a sure cure for a nosebleed: a cold knife in the middle of the back.” This largely unknown but nonetheless riveting noir sports a killer pace, dynamic camerawork, splendid hard-boiled dialogue and a record amount of bitchslaps doled out. An ex-con trying to stay on the straight and narrow is framed for an armed robbery so he has to find the culprits that fled to Mexico and clear his name before the heat catches up with him. The cast boasts an array of character actors with faces only a mother could love, including Neville Brand, Jack Elam and a young Lee van Cleef. A real b-movie gem that time forgot. Don’t miss out.
