Special Robert Redford
A Requiem for Redford:

All Is Lost (2013)

Hoezo in KINO

“Fuuuuuuuuuuck!” The best evidence for Redford’s captivating screen presence is J.C. Chandor’s shipwreck drama All Is Lost. Redford (unbelievably already 77 years old here) delivers a solitary tour de force performance as a lone captain of a small sailboat experiencing a terrifying open sea collision with a container ship and having to employ all his experience and wit to stay alive against hopeless odds. A fantastic cinematic experience and a fitting story for the occasion about a man fighting the inevitable. Sporadic English without subtitles.

Storyline

During a solo voyage in the Indian Ocean, a veteran mariner awakes to find his vessel taking on water after a collision with a stray shipping container. With his radio and navigation equipment disabled, he sails unknowingly into a violent storm and barely escapes with his life. With any luck, the ocean currents may carry him into a shipping lane — but, with supplies dwindling and the sharks circling, the sailor is forced to face his own mortality.
