This Is America: Blue Collar (1978)

Hoezo in Kino

“They pit the lifers against the new boy and the young against the old. The black against the white. Everything they do is to keep us in our place.” Writer Paul Schrader’s directorial debut chronicles the lives of three autoworkers in Detroit played by Harvey Keitel, Yaphet Kotto and comedy legend Richard Pryor. It’s a raw story about the hostility between workers, management and the union, a cautionary tale of a struggle that essentially is one of class, not race.
