L.A. Nightmares: Mulholland Drive (2001)

Hoezo in Kino

An early draft for Mulholland Drive (2001) was written by Lynch in the early nineties as the pilot for a Twin Peaks spin-off tv series, where Audrey Horne would try her luck in Hollywood. With French money, the script was extended and shot as a feature film and was released in theaters. It is classic ‘Lynchian’ tale of dreams and reality intermixing and shadowy figures of great power bending the destiny of simpler folk (actors, directors) for their benefit. Mulholland Dr. is arguably Lynch’s best work and a film that defies understanding in the traditional sense – it is a film to experience on an almost unconscious level.
