Jong-su is a part-time delivery guy in Seoul, who dreams of becoming a writer. One day, he bumps into his old classmate Hae-mi, who asks him to look after her cat while she’s on a trip to Africa. Jong-su, smitten with Hae-mi, decides to help her out, hoping to win her favor. Upon her return, Jong-su finds out she has fallen for the charming and mysterious Ben, who she met in Nairobi. While they get tangled up in an awkward love triangle, Jong-su grows wary of Ben and his odd, secret ‘hobby’. Then one day, Hae-mi suddenly disappears. Korean master Chang-dong Lee (Poetry) based the scenario of this poetic and irresistable thriller on a short story by Haruki Marakami. With a record number of points in the journalist poll, the international press praised Burning as Cannes’ masterpiece of the year.
