A Private War is based on the true story of one of the most celebrated war correspondents of our time: the British Marie Colvin (Rosamund Pike). Utterly fearless and rebellious she gets to the bottom of armed conflicts to give a voice to the oppressed. She interviews leaders of the rebellions and dictators and even loses her sight on one eye at a grenade attack in Sri Lanka, after which she starts wearing her characteristic eyepatch. The misery she gets confronted with, leaves deep traces in her personal life. Despite the great sacrifices her job asks her to make, she continues to follow her mission to unravel the real suffering.

The interview with Paul Conroy will be conducted by Fay van der Wall. She works as an independent writer and creator and keeps busy with art, films, (pop) culture in the city. She writes for online magazine Vers Beton and is a teacher at the Willem de Kooning Academy. Born and raised in Rotterdam, she studied at the Willem de Kooning Academy to become a filmmaker, followed by a Masters in Television and Popular Culture at the University of Amsterdam.
