Special a 35mm presentation Cameron on Film

True Lies (1994): a 35mm presentation

Hoezo in KINO

A remake of a French action comedy is not really what first springs to mind when considering a follow up to T2 for Cameron and Schwarzenegger, but The Austrian Oak wanted to dip his toe into comedic territory and Cameron felt a slightly lighter tone was a welcome alternative after his cyborg filled dystopian future feature(s). The film about a James Bond like secret agent that has to keep his occupation hidden from his spouse did turn into the most expensive production to date (being overtaken by Waterworld the next year) and is in great Cameron fashion stacked with elaborate and over the top action setpieces, feisty pre- and post mortem one-liners and has a fantastic Jamie Lee Curtis performance that matches Schwarzenegger in combining the physical and comedic to perfection. The film is screened from a great 35mm print provided by Eye Filmmuseum. English language with Dutch subtitles.
